Clemson Show Spring 2009
It was a cold and rainy March weekend in Clemson, South Carolina but the Western Carolina Arabian Horse Association show was scheduled to run rain or shine. Three Palms Arabians was well represented by three of the farm’s top competitors who preformed very well in all of their classes.

lunaIn Sport Horse In Hand Fillies 2 Years Old and Under Citadel Al Razeelah (JF Hatim x Matrabbs Melody) showed to a second place finish with trainer and handler Bob Bennett, Jr. of Swansea, South Carolina.
Razeelah proved to be consistent by taking the red ribbon in Arabian Yearling Fillies with Bob Bennett, Jr. on the lead. She went on to win the Reserve Championship in Purebred Arabian Fillies Breeding. Gunnar Palm had the lead for Razeelah in the Amateur Owner to Handle class and once again placed second.

Citadel Baashana (Imperial Baarez x Imperial Orashana) returned to the Sport Horse ring after a year and a half off with Mary Katherine Marshall in the irons for Patricia Palm. Baashana finished fourth in both the Sport Horse Under Saddle Junior Horse Class and the Sport Horse Under Saddle Junior Horse Championship. She finished third in Sport Horse Under Saddle Novice Horse. The pair had an impressive first place finish and won the Championship in Sport Horse In-Hand Mares 3 and Over Open Classes and finished second and Reserve Champion in the Sport Horse In-Hand Mares Amateur Classes.

Marshall also competed with Baashana in the Native Costume Class finishing first and Champion in the two classes.

Citadel Baashana also made her first appearance in a rated dressage class. With Junior Savannah Palm challenging the elements, the pair had a beautiful USDF Intro A Test with a score good enough for a second place finish. Junior Cameron Hinson also took Baashana for a trip around the USDF Intro B Test finishing third.

Their combined scores were good enough for a Reserve Champion placement in the division which produced two beaming faces. Both girls had only ridden the mare a handful of times prior to coming to Clemson and their growing entourage was all smiles at the end of both their tests.

Competing in only one class at the show was junior stallion, Citadel Shahin (Ansata Ibn Jamila x *Fatmaa), who was shown to a second place finish in the Sport Horse In-Hand Stallion 3 Years and Older by Gunnar Palm. What was also so special about this show was that Three Palms Arabians introduced two newcomers to the Arabian horse world and the straight Egyptian breed by hosting two guests for classes. Friends of amateur rider, Mary Katherine Marshall, Jeff Demmon and Georgia Boswell joined the group for their first Arabian horse show. Both Demmon and Boswell shared with Mary Katherine that they were “impressed with the breed” and all of the hard work that goes into the training and showing of these magnificent animals. We hope to see them at many more Arabian events.
